Why Do I Blog?
Blogging is nothing new. It seems as if everyone today has a blog. If you search the internet you will probably see that there are millions of blogs. There are blogs about politics, fashion, entertainment, beauty, writing, and more. It is a full and saturated industry. Anyone can sign up to create a blog, and start blogging.
Over the years, I tried blogging about four times. With every attempt, I had a plan to break into the blogging world with my own voice and niche. I wanted followers and people to read what I had written, yet there wasn’t an objective or true meaning for why I was blogging. I had no idea why I was doing it. Perhaps that is the reason those blogs did not last more than a few months.
So in my last attempt to blog and be more consistent, I decided to answer my own question.
Why are you blogging?
The answer is very simple for me…..
1- I love to write. Since I can remember, being a child living in our apartment, I would create stories in my mind and write them on paper. It was there that I developed a desire to tell stories. This need to write, has continued throughout my life and I am determined to make it a career.
2- I want to become a better writer. This may sound foolish to some, as you may think that you should already be a great writer to blog. That is not necessarily true. For some, blogging can increase writing skills. It is true, “the more you write the better you become.” I can see a difference in my writing mechanics and my writing voice.
3- I want to overcome my shyness and fear of sharing my work. If anyone wants to be an author, you can’t be shy or afraid to show your work. I was definitely like this. Allowing others to read my work scared me. The moment I gave someone a piece of writing to read, I worried about what was going through their mind as they were reading, and it terrified me. Blogging has alleviated most or all of that fear.
4- I want to build a platform. Your platform is basically, “who you are as a writer and author.” Blogging is a great way to share with others, who you are as a writer. Most professionals in the writing industry stress the importance of having a platform. It is mandatory to market yourself and share “who you are” with the world.
5- I want to share my stories with the world. I have a lot to say and blogging allows me to share my life with the world. Yes, the world! The internet is huge. We are not confined to our small area, with only our family and friends to share our stories. Blogging allows you to reach a wider audience to share your platform.
So, there are my reasons for blogging. I hope they have inspired you to think of your own reasons and make the decision to start your own blog today.
